This page sets out the terms on which Defense Interns Corp makes this website and its partner portal available. We have written it in plain words rather than in the usual language, because a document nobody can read is not an agreement anybody has made.
Who we are
Defense Interns Corp is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 92-2963901. This site describes our program, invites students to apply to it, and provides a signed-in portal for the organizations that take part.
Applying is not a placement
Applying to the program does not guarantee a placement, and nothing on this site is an offer of employment. Placements depend on how many host employers are taking students in a given cycle, what they are looking for, and their own hiring requirements - which are theirs and not ours.
Where you are placed, your employment is with the host employer. They pay you, they supervise you, and their policies apply to your work. We match, support and follow up; we are not your employer.
Portal accounts
Accounts are issued by us to named individuals at approved organizations. An account is yours and is not to be shared - the portal contains information about named young people, and an account passed around an office is how that information reaches somebody it was never meant for.
Tell us immediately if you think somebody else has access to your account, or if somebody with an account leaves your organization. We can close an account at any time, and we will do so without warning if we believe information about a student is at risk.
What you see in the portal
Information about students in the portal is provided for the purpose of running this program and for nothing else. It is not to be copied out, forwarded, added to a recruitment database, used for marketing, or shared with anybody outside your organization.
Resumes and applications belong to the students who wrote them. Reading one in order to decide whether you would host that person is what it is there for; keeping it afterwards for another purpose is not.
Using the site
Please do not attempt to gain access to any part of this site you have not been given, interfere with how it works, submit anything through its forms that you know to be untrue, or use it to send anybody unsolicited messages.
The text, photographs, logos and design on this site are ours or our partners', except where they are somebody else's and credited as such. You may quote and link to us; please ask before republishing a page.
What we can and cannot promise
We keep this site accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will be free of errors or never go down. Figures describing our track record are true as at the date they were published and are not updated continuously.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of this site. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland.
Changes, and how to reach us
We may update this page. Where a change materially affects people who already hold a portal account, we will tell them rather than relying on them noticing.
